LiveJournal Pilfer: Comic Book Gripe

So the roster is almost in on the videogame “Injustice: Gods Among Us” and I’m noticing some trends that DC does that punch me in the kidneys on a regular basis. I wasn’t particularly excited about this game despite my love for all things DC. The game looks great and seems to have improved over the Mortal Kombat of old, but I’m not posting this to say what I think about the game as a whole…

So here’s the Roster:

  • Aquaman
    • Aquaman
  • Green Arrow
    • Green Arrow
  • Green Lantern
    • Green Lantern (Hal Jordan)
    • Sinestro
  • Wonder Woman
    • Wonder Woman
  • Superman
    • Superman
    • Lex Luthor
  • Justice League
    • Cyborg (Teen Titans Technically)
    • Solomon Grundy
  • The Flash
    • The Flash
    • Mirror Master (Rumored)
  • Batman
    • Batman
    • Nightwing
    • Bane
    • Catwoman
    • Deathstroke
    • The Joker
  • Hawkman
    • HawkGIRL
  • Captain Marvel
    • Shazam (Not his name….)

Is no one noticing this lopsided roster but me!? Seriously, you’d think Batman is the only character that even deserves his own game. It’s the same irritation I get every time I see a show called “Wolverine & the X-Men”, like the franchise couldn’t POSSIBLY get on without Wolverine in the god damn title.

It’s not enough that every DC Animation has to have 3 Batmans and 2 Supermans AT LEAST before they can make a damn Green Lantern or Wonder Woman movie. I still have yet to see anything mainstream starring The Flash, nevermind his comedy sidekick role in both the Animated Justice League show & Young Justice. I get that DC has to take a small hit when they show characters that are outside of their heavy hitters, but its downright ridiculous to think that people won’t like them. Take a beat from Marvel Studios, DC; they’re making a Guardians of the Galaxy movie and aren’t apologizing for it!
